Ways to improve your morning mood.

Do you find yourself moody, foggy, and disoriented in the mornings.

It can be hard to get your bearings when you wake up in the morning. Like most of the population, we are busy people, rushing from waking to work and all the things in between. It is easy to get caught up in the shuffle of life between parenthood, work, extracurricular activities, obligations, family and relationships.

Are there times when your day could begin with a sense of quiet anticipation? Is there an opportunity in the morning to create space for you? A time when you are the priority shifting from busy to calm.

As the sun timidly peeks through the curtains, take a moment to stretch and welcome the new day. The familiar routine of brewing a fresh cup of coffee fills the air with its comforting aroma, signalling the start of my morning ritual.

With each sip, I feel a sense of clarity washing over me, preparing me for the day ahead. I take a few moments to reflect on the tasks awaiting me, setting my intentions and visualizing a successful day. This simple practice helps center my thoughts and grounds me in the present moment.

As I move through my morning routine, from a refreshing shower to choosing an outfit that makes me feel confident, I can feel my mood shifting gradually. The act of taking care of myself, both physically and mentally, sets a positive tone for the hours to come. Finding a morning routine that resonates with you is essential for setting the tone for the day, one that will have a positive impact on your mood.

When setting a morning routine consider a time you want to get up at and be consistent with the time you are waking. What would the rest of this quiet time look like, is it you doing a meditation practice followed by journalling, is it sitting in your comfy chair with a nice cup of java, or is it incorporating movement with morning walks? Whatever it is that gives you an internal sense of calm, pick one thing and see how you feel carrying that action out. Pat attention to the sensations in your body and how your mind feels when you devote this time to just you.

By the time I step out the door, I am filled with a quiet sense of determination and readiness to face whatever challenges the day may bring. The beauty of these morning moments lies in their simplicity and consistency, providing a steady foundation for the ever-evolving journey ahead.
